David is currently an Owner & General Manager of Pemberton Valley Lodge with over 29 years of experience in the tourism industry. He has opened four hotel properties in western Canada and operated his own Adventure Travel business in British Columbia and Alberta for 10 years. David was a founding Director of the Alberta Tourism Partnership and served on various boards and committees throughout the province of Alberta. He was a founding Director of the Jasper Air Consortium which was responsible for bringing scheduled air service into Jasper National Park and the development of an Airport Authority. He has been a private operator of public recreational facilities, parks, swimming pools and reservoirs.

David is a natural athlete and avid outdoor enthusiast. He shows his passion for the outdoors as a competitive master’s swimmer, mountain biker, backpacker and triathlete. He also used to guide professionally on the West Coast Trail.

David was elected to Council for the Village of Pemberton in 2005, serving a three year term which also included Acting Mayor. He has served as a Director of the BC Chamber of Commerce, Chair, Vancouver Coast & Mountains Tourism Region, and Founder & Chair of Tourism Pemberton and the President of the Pemberton Regional Airport Authority. David served a 2-year term as President & Chair of the BC Hotel Association and currently is serving as Immediate Past Chair. Also, he is currently serving as Director of the Tourism Industry Association of BC and a Director for the Canadian Cancer Society. In his spare time, he is a SAR Manager for Pemberton District Search & Rescue and an Auxiliary RCMP Constable with the Sea to Sky Regional Police Service.
